Remember Momotombo Chocolates which I posted a while back? In one of my frequent trawls through the internet searching for interesting chocolates I found Brown Paper Chocolates and although they do make their chocolate from couverture rather than fresh and barely roasted cocoa which does take away a lot of the awesomeness that Momotombo chocolates have, they do seem to have a simlar looking end product and have awesomeness all of their own.

Brown Paper Chocolates:

They’ve both got that sort of thick chewy slightly fudgey sort of look and really I am very very interested. I’ve no idea how Richard Kaplan does his but to get that texture and feel (or at least the texture and feel that I imagine they have) without having to say somewhere that you have to keep them refridgerated or eat within a week or two; it’s an incredible achievement.
Not just content with having an awesome type of chocolate he’s also gone for some very creative flavours (wow, someone else putting pumpkin in chocolate!), just how awesome does “Fragrant with Lavender, Pimm’s® No.1 and Chervil with a cracked pepper and lavender fleur de sel afterthought” sound. On a scale of one to ten it sounds like an 8… or possibly a 26,804.
The joy is also that he takes orders, so as soon as the money starts coming in from my new part time (fake) baker job I’ll pop in an order and have a taste of what they’re like in real life… and then make you jealous by writing how much I like them.
